a5c7b9f00b With the Ancients' city of Atlantis discovered in the Pegasus Galaxy by Stargate Command, Dr. Elizabeth Weir and Major Sheppard lead a scientific expedition to the ancient abandoned city. Once there, the team not only find themselves unable to contact Earth, but their explorations unexpectedly reawaken the Ancients' deadly enemies, The Wraith, who hunger for this new prey. Now with the help of newfound local allies like Teyla Emmagan, the Atlantis Team sets about to uncover their new home's secrets eventheir war of survival against the Wraith begins. An international team of scientists and military personnel discover a Stargate network in the Pegasus Galaxy and come face-to-face with a new, powerful enemy, The Wraith. SG: ATLANTIS, spin off of SG: 1, is a low-budget programmer that presumably keeps 15-year-old males everywhere out of trouble for an hour or two each week. An SG team has been beamed to a location where they encounter a new menace, the Wraiths. I have watched a few episodes, but until today never made it through to the end of one. The only reason I stayed with this one was to watch the final showdown between the leading man and a Wraith. The showdown was slow and plodding, the plot highly reminiscent of an old STAR TREK episode. In fact, the whole show is slow and talky. This is because it is clearly being made on a very limited budget. The characters are generic, and basically mirror-image-duplicates of the cast of SG: 1, minus most of the acting talent. I also watched most of an episode where the team encounters an idyllic civilization right out of THE TIME MACHINE and takes the head babe with them, only to find out she may not beserene and bucolicshe seems. I saw this exact same plot a week or two ago on this very show, only that time involving a female android or some such thing. Ah, well. It's like slamming any number of these cheap Canadian shows that are tossed off like so many cookies. There's an audience for this, I am sure. Just a very young audience. I just had to give my 2 cents worth on this show in some public forum somewhere because I'd hate to see the studio cancel it because it wasn't getting very good feedback. I watch the show every Monday night and it is the highlight of my week (and, yes, I do have a life).

I very much enjoy the characters, the story lines, and the Wraiths. And given the fact that it is still only the first season I'm hoping that the show will only get better. If you want to see weak story lines just about half the Star Trek: TNG series had them and that show lasted 7 seasons (I believe). Yes, I'm a Trekkie but I don't believe you have to be one or even a fan of the sci fi genre to enjoy this series.

To the writers, producers, and actors on the show I'm cyberbegging that you continue your great work and know that it is being very much appreciated by people like me (smart and handsome).

Dave M
